Join the Ongoza Entrepreneurship Program

Applications are now open for young entrepreneurs from these four counties; Nairobi, Nakuru and Bungoma where we are seeking a total of 20 entrepreneurs.

Who Can Apply

We are looking for entrepreneurs with the following qualities:

  • Owners and key managers are 35 years of age or younger, engaged in the business full-time, and willing to commit time to learn with three hours of business development support per week for two years
  • Business provides proof of having been in business for the last 6 month.
  • Business should be registered or in the process of registration
  • Average monthly turnover of between 50,000 Ksh – 100,000 Ksh with clear potential and rapid path to scale.
  • The business has a clear demonstrated social impact, or the owner/manager can clearly demonstrate their social involvement in their community. 
  • A registration fee of 3,000 Ksh will be required once the enterprise has been successfully selected. 
Kindly note that the following two categories of farming businesses do not qualify:
  • Entrepreneurs who are solely doing rain-fed agriculture.
  • Entrepreneurs with short-term land leases.

Data & Learning Manager

Your role is to develop, manage, and implement Ongoza’s learning agenda and data infrastructure to help us make smarter decisions and deliver even better value to entrepreneurs. The Impact and Learning Manager will work closely under Ongoza’s Program Manager but collaborate across the organization as the primary person responsible for consolidating Ongoza’s data, doing statistical analysis, developing internal A/B testing procedures, and providing strategic recommendations. You will be Ongoza’s data champion and a core decision-making influencer, responsible for building a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Development Manager

Your role is to build and execute the systems around Ongoza’s fundraising strategy from beginning to end and provide oversight over Ongoza’s marketing team. You will prospect for new potential donors, build and execute cultivation and stewardship plans, and write proposals to drive Ongoza’s growth. As part of the leadership team, you will play a role in shaping and financing the growth of the organization’s strategy.

Business Development Advisor
Application Deadline: 31 August, 2017
Your role is to provide practical, strategic advisory and assistance to youth-led social enterprises to drive their growth as measured by increased revenue, jobs, and social impact. Your consulting will span all aspects of business growth and structure, from financial modeling to marketing to business strategy and operations. Reporting directly to Ongoza’s Program Manager, you are Ongoza’s primary client-facing role, responsible for the success of our client entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneur Outreach and Liaison Officer 
Applications Deadline: 31 August, 2017
Your role is to manage and execute on the recruitment, selection and successful onboarding of young Kenyan entrepreneurs running high-potential social businesses into Ongoza’s programs. This is one of the most important things we do at Ongoza, and as we continue to grow, we are looking for a talented individual to support our team in continuing to select the best entrepreneurs for us to engage with. This will be a minimum one-year full-time engagement.

Volunteer
