Alexei Dunaway

Executive Director

A former strategic philanthropy consultant, Alexei coordinated the world pilot of a youth-led mapping advocacy initiative at the Centro de Promoção da Saúde in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Alexei also worked with Human Rights Watch in Washington, D.C.; contributed to several successful human rights trials in Spain, the US, and El Salvador; and led a youth entrepreneurship project in South Africa. Prior to joining Ongoza, he received a Fulbright research grant to study civil society advocacy in Mozambique.


Lydiah Muya

Program Manager

Lydiah Muya describes herself as a local economic development catalyst. She enjoys working with rural entrepreneurs. Before joining Ongoza, she led Open Book Trading, a social enterprise involved in reinventing the role of middlemen in agricultural value chains. She played a key role in transitioning the venture from a donor project to a self-sustaining business. She has previously worked as a financial partner in the micro-finance sector in Kenya for six years. 


Monicah Mutunga


Monicah Mutunga is community development major student at St. Paul's University. She learnt about Ongoza's work from one of the board members. Monicah is passionate and eager to learn Monitoring and Evaluation, project management and advocacy. Outside of work, she loves reading, travelling, sports - Soccer & Roll-ball (a basketball size game, played on roller skates); a game she has played since 2015. 


Evans Sungudi

Chief Financial Officer

Evans has over 22 years of considerable working experience in the development sector, business development and Investment banking. He previously worked as a Finance Officer with Aga Khan Foundation, a private non-denominational development agency (INGO) promoting creative and effective solutions to selected problems that impede social development in developing countries especially in East Africa and Asia. Other organisations worked for include; Financial planner with Dyer and Blair Investment Bank, a leading Investment Bank in Kenya licensed by the Capital Markets Authority, Member of the Nairobi Stock Exchange and an Authorized Central Depository Agent; Finance & Administration Officer with Kenya Youth Development Trust, a non-partisan, non-governmental national youth organization (NGO) that advocates for social justice, democracy, good governance and youth empowerment; Kenya National Assembly as a Personal Assistant to the former cabinet secretary in the ministry of Cooperative. Director with Centre for African Affairs & Conflict Research and Prime Capital Group of companies.

Evans has worked with the Center for African Affairs & Conflict Research (CAACOR), Dyer and Blair investment Bank and as the Chief Accountant of the Aga Khan Foundation- Kenya for 15 years. As Ongoza CFO, he is responsible for the strategic planning and management of Ongoza finances.


Selessor Atieno Odipo

Learning and Impact Manager

Selessor A. Odipo is an Impact Specialist responsible for overseeing and implementing the development of Ongoza’s monitoring and evaluation function. She has over 9 years experience in monitoring and evaluation projects in the areas of civic education, livelihoods development, health, education, and food security among other areas. Prior to joining Ongoza, Selessor worked with Kenya Community Development Fund (KCDF), FHI 360, the Aga Khan Foundation, and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation. She has a Masters in Social Statistics and B.ED Science, Mathematics and Chemistry Option. 


Teddy Amimo

County Business Advisor (Nairobi)

Teddy has worked with Co-operative Bank of Kenya, Inspiration Management Consultancy, and Mavoko Municipal County as a management consultant. With a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, he has 7 years of experience in the financial sector.


Andrew koros

County Business Advisor (Nakuru)

Andrew is a Business development services and value chain analysis specialist with expertise in conducting technical feasibility and viability studies for potential enterprises. He joins Ongoza from TechnoServe, where he conducted strategic, technical, and practical management of passion fruit and dairy value chains with smallholder farmers.


Betty Opio

County Business Advisor (Bungoma)

Betty Apio has previously worked with VSO International in Abuja, Nigeria as an Agricultural Extension Officer, Institute for International Cooperation and Development as a Project Manager-Senior Management level and in The Community Managed Watershed Organization. She brings on board a vast experience in capacity building, fundraising and project design and management.


Ikweri Anariko

Communication Assistant

Anariko Ikweri is a communications professional with expertise in content development, research, photography and design for electronic and print media. He joins Ongoza from IKAN Media, where he managed the content design, photography and graphic design. He’s worked as a consultant photojournalist for Kenya Red Cross and Kenya NGO’s Alliance Against Malaria (KeNAAM).


Diane Mumbi

Executive Assistant

Diane is a Bachelor of Economics graduate. She has worked with AIESEC University of Nairobi as a team leader and organized a financial literacy forum in which she was the event manager. She previously interned at the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Trade in the planning department. She was recently in Sri Lanka for a volunteer project with AIESEC.
